What kinds of events can be included in JDays?

Any group is welcome to announce an event, meeting, conference, or program related to Jewish family history, Jewish history, or Jewish heritage. We reserve the right to not accept events that are political, divisive, or promoting harm or hatred.

Posting Tips
  1. Upload a photo image for your event for greater interest or upload your logo for improved recognition. Wikimedia and Canva are good free sources for photo images.
  2. Use mixed case (vs. all upper case) in your event titles to improve readability.
How does a reader use the calendar?

A reader can 1) select how they prefer to view the calendar: Pinboard (tile view), Agenda (list view), or Monthly views; 2) search the calendar for certain words in the event titles or descriptions; 3) select a date from which to start listing/displaying upcoming events; 4) click on any event to display the detailed description about and information on how to attend the event; 5) from the detailed event display, share the event on Twitter, Facebook, or Linked In, save the event to their personal calendar, copy the event link, or email the event information; and 6) subscribe to the JDays calendar.

Can I filter the events by category/tag?

There are two methods to filter the events displayed by tags: 1) Click on any tag of interest that displays with any existing event. This will then show a list of all upcoming events containing that tag. 2) In the search box, type any tag(s) preceeded by a hash tag, #tagname. E.g., #Podcast

Current tags in use include:

Conference, Podcast, Webinar, Virtual-Conference, Live-Streaming, Workshop, Call-for-Papers, Call-for-Volunteers, Institute, Grant, Scholarship, Walking-Tour, Social-MeetUp, Call-for-Award-Nominations, Cemetery-Project, Digitization-Project, Mentoring, Cruise, Research-Trip, Special-Interest-Group-Meeting, DoJR-Survey-Project, Preservation-Project, Indexing-Project, Photo-Scanning-Event, Format-Virtual-Only, Format-In-Person-Only, Format-Hybrid, IAJGS-Member-Organization

How does an organization post an event?

Announcements may be made days, weeks, or months ahead of time. 1) On the JDays calendar page, click on the “Submit Event” button. 2) Fill out the form with the details about your event. Select as many tags as needed to make your event discoverable by your audience of interest. Optionally upload an image or video to generate interest in your event. Click on the “Check and Submit” button. 3) Your event will be reviewed within 24 hours (often faster) and accepted. You will receive a notification email of the status of your event.

You still control all the event management functions for your event: RSVPs/attendees, fees, etc. JDays helps you get the word out.

JDays is social media friendly. Calendar readers can easily share your event to Twitter, Facebook, Linked In or email.

Note that JDays is mobile friendly for calendar readers. However, submission of events is currently not supported via a mobile device, only on a desktop.

For questions contact support.

We invite you to spread the word to other organizations within your community.

Who is hosting the JDays calendar?

JDays is hosted by the L’Dor V’Dor Foundation (LDVDF), a non-profit whose mission is to support research, development, education and awareness projects that advance ancestral discovery for anyone with interest in Jewish family history and heritage. Besides hosting JDays, LDVDF is rescuing lost Jewish heritage through its Documentation of Jewish Records Worldwide (DoJR) project.  DoJR’s goal is to discover every existing document of every Jew who ever lived – Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, Crypto, Rabbinic and more – in a massive, free, online searchable catalogue called JCat. LDVDF is also host to the Weekly News Nosh – a newsletter of bite size tidbits of Jewish news you can use.
